If you work with a 360 platform, you'll know that using GoPro cameras synced with software or an app like Omnibooth Studio is what lets you deliver high-quality videos and work completely wirelessly. It's the standard combination for any self-respecting 360 photobooth.

For everything to work, you need to connect the GoPro via WiFi to your PC or smartphone. And this is where one of the industry's most common problems shows up: you can't connect to the GoPro because its WiFi signal simply doesn't appear in the list of available networks.

The Omnibooth Studio team has run into this GoPro on a 360 platform issue countless times while setting up 360 booths at all kinds of events. The good news is there's a quick fix. Take note.

Quick fix: turn on the preview from the Quik app

In most cases, the problem gets solved in under two minutes by following these steps:

  1. Using your smartphone (even if you're going to connect the GoPro to a PC afterward), turn on Bluetooth and open the official GoPro app called Quik.
  2. Wait for the app to automatically detect your GoPro.
  3. Once it's detected, turn on Preview.
  4. Once the preview is working correctly, you can close the Quik app without any issue.
  5. From that point on, the GoPro's WiFi signal will show up as available in your WiFi connections, ready to sync with your computer or smartphone so you can use it in your app, such as Omnibooth Studio.

Still no WiFi signal? Check the frequency

If the GoPro still doesn't show up on WiFi after turning on the preview, the cause is usually something else: your PC's or smartphone's WiFi antenna doesn't reach every standard frequency range, which are normally 2.4GHz or 5GHz.

The good news is that you can change the camera's WiFi frequency either from the GoPro itself or from the Quik app. Once you switch it, the signal is very likely to show up immediately in your list of available networks.

Last resort: format the SD card and reset the battery

If the problem persists after trying both fixes, format the GoPro's SD card, remove the battery, and put it back in fully charged at 100%. Combining these three steps should get your GoPro's WiFi signal to show up and connect smoothly to your 360 photobooth or 360 videobooth software.
